We’re investing in an important water mains renewal project along Tonbridge Road and Camp Hill in Chiddingstone to secure safe and reliable drinking water supplies for homes and businesses.
The current water mains, which are from 1974, have now reached the end of their operational life.
The project will involve laying approximately 1.5km of new main along Tonbridge Road and part of Camp Hill, starting from the junction of Hampkins Hill Road. Our Keeping your water flowing(External link) booklet explains the four stages needed to lay a water main and answers some key questions you may have.
*See latest update below for further information*
We’re starting work to replace an old water main in Tonbridge Road and Camp Hill, Chiddingstone, on Tuesday 19 April.
This work was originally paused after discussions with businesses, stakeholders and residents. We have since done a lot of work and changed techniques, meaning we can work closer to the verge in Tonbridge Road and under traffic lights, rather than a full road closure.
Once this section is completed, we’ll be moving on to Camp Hill where we’ll need to put a full road closure in place. We’re expecting to start this section on Monday 20 June once we have completed work on Tonbridge Road.
We want to assure you we will keep the disruption caused to the local community to a minimum.
