In some instances, we may have to fit your meter inside your property - for example, if you live in a flat, or in a property that shares its water supply pipe with another home or other building.

If this is the case, we'll contact you to arrange a convenient date and time for one of our surveyors to visit to see where the best location is.

With fittings inside a property, the meter is typically fitted close to the internal stop-tap, which is often located in the kitchen or bathroom. Our team will put any fittings back as we found them, such as boxing around a pipe, that need to be temporarily removed to provide access while the meter's being put in.

It would also be helpful if you can please clear the area where the meter will go before our engineer arrives - for example, emptying the contents of a cupboard or under the kitchen sink to allow easier access. We will always try to leave the area as we find it and there will be no charge for the installation.

Preventing bogus callers

Sadly, more than half the ‘bogus caller’ or ‘doorstep’ crimes in the UK are committed by criminals pretending to be from a water company, or from the 'water board' - which hasn’t existed for more than 30 years!

So, it’s important to know what you can do to check that callers are genuine before you let them in. For more details, please click here.

Remember, if you have any queries or concerns about your meter survey or installation, you can call us on tel. 01737 919485, or send us an email to metering@seswater.co.uk.
