By 2025 our target is for all our customers to be supplied by more than one treatment works, to make sure you continue to receive a reliable supply of drinking water. We plan to achieve this by laying a larger pipe in your area to carry greater amounts of water from one part of our supply area to another.

The project involves laying approximately 2.4km of new water main from an existing main in land adjacent to the Telegraph Track in Sutton, and connecting it to an existing main within the grounds of Langley Park Reservoir (The Crossways Road). Once completed the new main will connect How Green and Langley Park. This will allow water from both our treatment works in Woodmansterne and Kenley to support the Cheam area.

To prepare for starting on site, for the past few months we have been making sure that we are familiar with the ground conditions and local environment. You may have seen our teams digging small holes in the road along the proposed route. We have been taking soil samples and finding out what is happening underground; for example, what other utility service pipes are already in place.

Updated 14 January 2022: While we are working along The Warren bus routes have been diverted to Beeches Walk. Please refrain from parking along Beeches Walk to allow buses to run smoothly.

Thank you for your message. 7.30h is the start time while we are working in the fields/rural section area. In the road sections and more built up areas, we will start later so as to avoid noise early in the morning.

Hi, thank you for your message. As we understand, this ‘existing spring water main’ is an SES water main which collects water from the Oaks boreholes at the Riding School grounds and pumps it up to the Cheam Water Treatment Works. The initial plan would be going under however, we need to navigate other utility services in that area and they will dictate the final position of the main. We are currently carrying out trial holes that will confirm the position of our main in relation to all other services, when it comes to crossing them.
