What does the project involve?
This work is part of the wider programme of mains replacement taking place in Redhill to replace the current water mains (some dating back to the 1890s) which are no longer of sufficient size and beginning to reach their maximum operating capacity.
This scheme is also supporting the extensive development taking place in the town and will connect up the new properties to our supply network.
What impact will there be on passing traffic?
Due to the location of the existing water main, and a number of other utilities already in the ground, we will be required to work in the public highway. Therefore, traffic management will be required to keep residents, motorists and our workforce safe. We plan on using temporary traffic lights to manage the traffic for the majority of the works.
The works will also require several junction closures at:
All traffic management arrangements and diversions will be published on our website and information boards will be visible in the affected areas well in advance of the closure being implemented.
How long is the work expected to take?
We plan to start work week commencing July 2021 and plan to be finished by April 2022 at the earliest.
Clancy Docwra are working 7:00 until 19:00 Monday to Friday.
Will water supplies be turned off?
Apart from minor interruptions of 30 to 60 minutes, as each property is individually connected to the new water mains, water supplies will continue as normal.
We will make sure those customers whose water supply is directly affected by these works are notified in advance.
What impact will there be on key services?
There will likely be an increase in travel times for road users in the area with the additional traffic management in place.
